The DC996B-I is an evaluation board in the Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs) category which utilizes delta-sigma (Δ-Σ) technology to convert analog signals into digital ones. This board is a single-channel configuration, optimization, and characterization tool for Analog Devices’ delta-sigma (Δ-Σ) high-resolution data converters. It can easily be used to evaluate all of Analog Devices ’high-resolution delta-sigma (Δ-Σ) ADCs, and also provides support for their programmable gain amplifier (PGA). This board is designed for ease of use and convenience, allowing for quick switchover between its two main operation modes, Evaluation Mode and Debug Mode.
In Evaluation Mode, the DC996B-I is used to characterise and evaluate performance parameters of Analog Devices’ delta-sigma (Δ-Σ) ADCs. User-selectable signal branching allows for quick and easy switching of the analog input signal between the signal source and the ADC under test. DC996B-I board also permits control of various ADC non-essential features. This includes reference voltage, gain, and offset adjustments and selection of the ADC\'s converter resolution.
In Debug Mode, the DC996B-I supports debugging by allowing direct access to the data converter\'s digital output signals. A connector on the board permits access to the ADC\'s full complement of digital signals. These signals can then be routed to a logic analyzer, oscilloscope, or other test and measurement equipment for detailed analysis.
The DC996B-I board also supports automated characterization and data logging, allowing easy, real-time testing of different configurations. The configurable power supplies on the board permit powering multiple input signal sources, as well as the ADC under test. An RS232 port at the rear panel of the board allows a user to configure and change ADC parameters. A 16x2 alphanumeric LCD display module at the front panel is used to provide visual feedback from the system.
The DC996B-I evaluation board utilizes advanced power management techniques to reduce board power consumption. It also features different on-board connectors and headers which allow for easy connection of the board to any Analog Devices’ high-resolution delta-sigma (Δ-Σ) ADC, allowing for quick and easy evaluation.
