The DF2B6.8FS(TPL4,D) TVS diode is suitable for a wide variety of applications including Compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), LED and power delivery systems protection. It is also suitable for the protection of peripheral logic devices, telephone lines, data lines, automotive application, and display protection.

Working Principle

The TVS diode works by clamping the transient voltage to a predetermined and safe maximum value. When a voltage surge is supplied to the diode, turned on due to the voltage exceeding its breakover voltage, and then it allows the surge current to be redirected from sensitive electronic components. This is typically done by creating an internal resistance to divert the excess energy away from the protected circuit. It is important to note that the TVS-diode will be destroyed once it has absorbed the energy from the transient, and it will need to be replaced in order to provide further protection.
