The DG419DJ is an analog switch device with a single, monolithic CMOS structure which incorporates five independently-controlled, single-pole/single-throw (SPST) analog switches. This versatile device can be used for a variety of applications ranging from transmit-receive function switching in cellular and cordless phones, to sample and hold applications in instrumentation, to multiplexer and demultiplexer switching in data acquition systems.
The working principle of the DG419DJ is based on the design and use of multiple transistors to control voltage levels and switch electrical signals from external wires to internal conductive paths. Each switch contains a set of three transistors which act as closed-circuit switches called the "select" transistors. A single "inverter" transistor is used to drive the select transistor gate signals.The logic signals (V1 and V2) supplied to the "select" transistors control the opening and closing of each switch. When V1 and V2 are both high, the select transistors are "ON" creating a closed circuit through the switch connection, thus allowing the signal to pass through. If either V1 or V2 is low, the switch connection is jeopardized because the select transistors are "OFF" resulting in a "high intransitivy" or non-conductive path.
The DG419DJ can be used in a number of applications, such as multiplexers and demultiplexers, radio frequency switching, audio/video switching, and modems. For example, the DG419DJ can be used as a single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) analog switch in a simple modulator/demodulator (modem) application.
