The DG509ADY+T analog switch is a 1-of-8 multiplexer/demultiplexer, which offers wide versatility in providing multi-channel selection of analog signals. It is used in applications such as programmable gain amplifiers, low power single supply analog multiplexers, and audio/video switching systems. This parts enables the user to select one path from up to 8 analog input signals for connection to a single output. It also allows for simple two-part multiplexing and demultiplexing. The DG509ADY+T is designed for low power, low voltage operation and utilizes two separate voltage supplies (Vcca, Vccb), making it suitable for direct connection to +15V, -15V, and +5V supplies.

The operation of the DG509ADY+T is based on differential analog switches which incorporate p-channel enhancement mode MOSFETs. These devices are very low power and utilized an internal latch to eliminate the need for data latches. Also, these devices have very low on and off resistance, making them suitable for micrometer sized filters and networks. The combination of these switches along with the wide variety of programmable parameters enables the user to accurately and reliably switch between different analog signals.

The DG509ADY+T has two independent input selector lines (EN1 and EN2) that allow independent control of each channel. When both EN1 and EN2 are low, all analog switches are disabled, whereas EN1 and EN2 can be used as two independent control lines to connect any combination of analog input signals to the output. In addition, the part also contains an extra input, DVR, which provides a means for disabling all analog switches when in the high state. Another added feature of this part is the internal latch that enables the part to store the last selection.

In addition to its application in audio/video switching systems, the DG509ADY+T can be used in programmable gain amplifiers (PGA). The advantages of using the part in PGA applications is its low power consumption, high accuracy, and its ability to select different gain settings through independent control of the analog switches.
