The DP83867IRPAPR is a full duplex physical layer interface designed to support speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second (1Gbps). The device is divided into five main sub-blocks, which are the MII/RMII port, the 1000Base-T/100Base-TX transceiver, the Extended PHY Communications protocol (XPCS) transceiver, the mac-level clock recovery unit and the integrated synchronous Ethernet MAC. The MII/RMII port interfaces with the MAC and enables, MAC-level protocol communication for all Ethernet speeds. The 1000Base-T/100Base-TX transceiver supports all speed specific to Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, while optional MII and RGMII can be used with lower speeds. The XPCS transceiver supports data transmission using a serial interface that can be configured to support both XAUI and 1000Base-X standards.
The integrated synchronous Ethernet MAC supports IEEE 802.3 and is optimized to support higher speeds.
