The DP83867IRPAPR is a full duplex physical layer interface designed to support speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second (1Gbps). It supports half-duplex systems that are compatible with 10Mb/s, 100Mb/s, and 1000Mb/s Ethernet. It is a low power, low latency, cost-effective solution that meets IEEE 802.3 standards.

The device is divided into five main sub-blocks, which are the MII/RMII port, the 1000Base-T/100Base-TX transceiver, the Extended PHY Communications protocol (XPCS) transceiver, the mac-level clock recovery unit and the integrated synchronous Ethernet MAC. The MII/RMII port interfaces with the MAC and enables, MAC-level protocol communication for all Ethernet speeds. The 1000Base-T/100Base-TX transceiver supports all speed specific to Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, while optional MII and RGMII can be used with lower speeds. The XPCS transceiver supports data transmission using a serial interface that can be configured to support both XAUI and 1000Base-X standards.

The integrated synchronous Ethernet MAC supports IEEE 802.3 and is optimized to support higher speeds. The integrated MAC can also support a very low power sleep state that allows the DP83867IRPAPR to be a power efficient solution. The clock recovery unit ensures data integrity and accurate timing on the link.

The DP83867IRPAPR also supports advanced power management features. To reduce current consumption, the device features a low standby current, timeouts and autonomous power shutdown.
