The EMIF02-SPK02F2 is a type of EMI/RFI filter. It is based on a series of LC and RC networks embedded in either an aluminum or plastic base. This filter is used to reduce both incoming and outgoing electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference. This is done by providing a shielding enclosure around the affected electronics and then providing a high-frequency inline filter to ensure only the appropriate signals are transmitted and received.
The EMIF02-SPK02F2 filter consists of an aluminum or plastic base with four terminals for connection to the application electronic board. The components are embedded in this base, with the base typically having a thickness of 2mm. The components are usually made from ceramic materials, which are able to provide an excellent performance in terms of isolation and attenuation of such signals. The embedded ceramic material is also resistant to extreme environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, dust, chemical corrosion, mechanical shock and vibration.
The operation principle of the EMIF02-SPK02F2 relies on the various components of the embedded series of LC and RC networks. RC networks will act as a low pass filter, reducing the amount of high frequency signals being transmitted. The LC networks meanwhile will act as a high pass filter, eliminating all low frequency interference.
