EPC9010C is an evaluation and demonstration board with all the necessary information needed to start a power design. It provides an ideal platform for evaluating and demonstrating the performance and features of the EPC family of gallium nitride based enhancement/depletion mode field effect transistors. The board offers various operating scenarios such as turn-on/off time, up/down ramp rate, short circuit protection, current versus voltage curves, avalanche energy, and forward and reverse current under temperature and other condition.
The EPC9010C includes a power supply with an adjustable output voltage, a dynamic load board, a number of test instrument inputs, an EPCFET reference design, and a graphical user interface. The reference design highlights the selection of components and their associated parameters such as gate voltage, gate current, and drain current. With all the necessary tools in one place, the EPC9010C is a comprehensive package to bring the power designer up to speed.
The EPCFET reference design includes a controller module, driver circuitry, FETs, and decoupling components. The driver circuitry and FETs are used to switch a load. In the off state, the FETs are open such that the load voltage is equal to the power supply voltage. In the on state, the FETs are closed and the load is shorted to ground. The controller module is used to control the FETs and displays the switching state and operation mode in the GUI.
The graphical user interface of the EPC9010C is used to adjust the parameters of the reference design. The user can specify the operating point, current and voltage curves, and short circuit protection for the FETs. The user can also measure temperature, avalanche energy, and power dissipation for each of the FETs. The GUI also displays a curve of the FET current versus voltage, allowing the user to compare the current versus voltage curves for the different operation modes.
In addition to the FETs, the EPC9010C includes several decoupling components for improved EMI performance. These components include inductors, capacitors, and resistors that are designed to provide impedance matching and reduced noise. The components also reduce RF interference and improve the efficiency of the power design.
The EPC9010C evaluation and demonstration board provides a complete package for the power designer. It allows the user to evaluate and demonstrate the performance and features of the EPCFETs. The onboard reference design and graphical user interface provide an easy to use platform for evaluating and studying the power design, and the decoupling components ensure improved EMI performance.
