The EVAL-AD7747EBZ is an evaluation board which is designed to evaluate the performance of the AD7747. It is a complete capacitive soil moisture and temperature measurement system that can help to improve crop yield and nutrition management. The AD7747 is a resistive based device which accurately measures the capacitance of the soil medium. It is designed to sense temperature and moisture level changes. The evaluator board features an ESP8266 to provide Wi-Fi connectivity in order for the system to transmit data to a remote server.

The application field of the EVAL-AD7747EBZ evaluation board cover agricultural applications, hydroponics applications, and other applications like medical clothing sensing and moisture content sensing. With its resistance capacitive sensing technology, the AD7747 is able to provide accurate measurements of temperature and capacitance which can be used for Crop yield and nutrition management, environment monitoring, indoor and weather monitoring, agriculture data acquisition, and precision crop management. With its Wi-Fi connectivity, the board can easily be integrated into a system for remote monitoring and data acquisition.

The working principle of the AD7747 is that of a resistance capacitive bridge. It consists of two capacitors, one driven by a microcontroller/driver and the other by an analog voltage reference. The bridge produces an output impedance which is proportional to the capacitance of the soil medium. The output impedance is then sent to an analog-to-digital converter where it is digitized. This digital output then can be read by a microcontroller to calculate the soil moisture level and temperature.

The hardware of the AD7747 consists of an on-board microcontroller, AD7747 chip, an analog-to-digital converter, voltage references, and a program memory. The microcontroller initializes the AD7747 chip and configures the operating parameters of the chip such as the sampling rate, the slew rate, and the stabilization time period. The analog-to-digital converter takes the output of the AD7747 chip and converts it to a digital signal which can be read by the microcontroller.

The EVAL-AD7747EBZ evaluation board is an easy to use and reliable device that provides accurate soil moisture and temperature readings in a variety of applications.
