FOD3120TV is an isolator that acts as a gate driver. It is used to convert the low voltage and low current signals from a variety of integrated circuits and microprocessors to high voltage and current signals for driving power MOSFETs, IGBTs, and other high current gate loads. The device has a 3.3V supply voltage and can deliver up to 120mA of current. It is also designed to dissipate static, dV/dt, and EMI noise from external sources, providing improved noise immunity.FOD3120TV has a wide range of applications in motor control, medical imaging, LED drivers, power supplies, RF power amplifier control, and other high power applications. It helps to reduce device cost, board size, and complexity by combining several isolated driver functions into a single device. The device has a built-in temperature compensation mechanism which ensures an optimal drive level with wide temperature range.The working principle of the FOD3120TV isolator is simple. The incoming signal from the low-voltage integrated circuit is coupled with a transformer and then transferred to the output side. On the output side, the signal is further amplified and applied to the gate of a power device. As the input signal is isolated, the output side can operate at higher voltages than the input side, up to 5.0V. In addition, the driver has an integrated thermal shutdown feature to protect against device failure due to overheating.The device also has many useful features and performance capabilities. It has anti-parallel diodes which protect the device from reverse polarity inputs and back-EMF. It has also been designed to withstand high levels of ESD and transient voltage. In addition, it has a wide bandwidth of 3.0MHz, allowing for fast switching of the power device output.
