A constant duty cycle on the buck section is maintained by the external PWM signal (or internally by the adjust pin) to regulate the output voltage of the converter.

In buck topology applications, the power dissipation of the source-follower linear regulator is minimized with a wide-range on-off control by the external PWM signal or by an internal current loop. This allows the use of lower voltage small packages (< 700V) in the power MOSFETs with good efficiency.

In either buck-boost or buck topology, the FSFR1600XSL features a very low operating temperature, hence increasing the reliability of the device.
