The FSFR1800XS is a highly integrated family of non-isolated synchronous rectifier buck power stages that provide high efficiency, stable output and operational ease. The device integrates low RDS(ON) MOSFETs, integrated gate drivers and a current sensing circuit to reduce component count and simplify the design process. Through the integration of its feature-rich component, FSFR1800XS provides a high performance and easy to use solution for system level power management in offline and distributed power systems.
The full range of FSFR1800XS devices target a variety of system requirements from low power up to 800W+. The devices offers adjustable output voltage with accuracy down to ±0.5%, a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 20V, current sensing and protection, low profile SMT packages with thermal pads, and various voltage and current programming options offering flexibility. The devices are initialized by a few external components, such as sense resistor, filter capacitor, and feedback resistors.
FSFR1800XS devices are suitable for a variety of applications such as AC-DC power supplies, home automation, black box electronics, factory automation, and internet of things. They also offer a variety of operating modes, enabling the user to choose between continuous current mode and continuous voltage mode.
The FSFR1800XS provides the protection of an integrated soft start, overcurrent, undervoltage and overvoltage protection. It also offers current mode operation for superior load transient response and input voltage feed forward for superior line transient response. The devices offer a power-saving mode and efficient low-frequency operation.
The operating principle of FSFR1800XS is based on the standard buck topology using a pair of synchronous rectifier MOSFETs. During the on-time, the synchronous rectifier MOSFETs conduct the input voltage and the output voltage is regulated at the output capacitor to the desired set-point. During the off-time, the MOSFETs are turned off and the diode provides the return path for the inductor flying energy.
The output voltage can be programmed by an external voltage feedback circuit, an internal PMOS or through an I2C interface. The output current can be programmed by an external sense resistor amplifier or through the I2C interface. The output current can also be programmed automatically through an ISEN pin, detecting the load current and programming the output accordingly.
