GD25VQ40CSIGR is a 4-megabit (512K x 8bit) CMOS single-power-supply non-volatile memory device that can supply higher write and read speeds than the current low-power memories. In addition, this device has a special dual-power system that allows the device to enter a low-power standby operation with minimal power consumption when the power supply voltage drops below the standby voltage. When a logic 1 is written to the cell, a voltage is applied to the cell\'s gate, allowing electrons to flow from the source to the drain of the transistor, thus storing the information. The cell can retain its contents up to 10 years.The data stored in the non-volatile cells is accessible by the device\'s serial interface. The interface operates in a synchronous serial mode, sending and receiving data through the SCS# and SI/O pins. Data is read from and written to the device using the command set of the proprietary SCS# protocol.
