The Triac is triggered by the photodarlington. The photodarlington is composed of two PNPN bipolar transistors, which are connected in series. When the LED is illuminated, the photodarlington is switched on, which in turn switches on the Triac. The photodarlington is designed to switch on with only a few microseconds of delay, due to its low on-resistance.

Once the Triac is switched on, the current from the control circuit flows through the load. The current from the load then flows back to the control circuit, creating a feedback loop. This feedback loop ensures that the Triac remains in the on-state, as long as the control circuit is supplying current to the load. When the current from the control circuit is removed, the Triac is switched off and the current flow stops.

This process is repeated each time the control circuit is supplying current to the load, ensuring that the load is switched on and off according to the instructions from the control circuit. In other words, the IL4218-X017T optoisolator is responsible for controlling the on/off cycle of the load and providing electrical isolation between the control circuit and the load.
