The JANTX1N4459 is a single-phase silicon rectifier with an average forward current rating of 1.5 amperes, a repetitive peak-reverse voltage rating of 400 volts and an average rectified forward current of 1.0 ampere.
This rectifier is available in a hermetically sealed TO-3 package. It is also named as JANTXV1N4459. It features low forward voltage drop and low reverse leakage current.
Application Field
The JANTX1N4459 single-phase silicon rectifier is widely used in the following application fields such as ac-dc power supplies, dc power supplies, communication power supplies, adjustable power supplies, switching power supplies, motor drives, personal computers, motor control circuits, lighting, etc.
Working Principle
The JANTX1N4459 single-phase silicon rectifier works by conducting current when the anode (positive side) is at a higher potential than the cathode (negative side). In this device, the anode is the p-type semiconductor material, while the cathode is the n-type semiconductor material. When the anode is at higher potential than the cathode, the electrons from the n-type region will be attracted to the p-type region. The electrons will then cross the junction and hence the current will flow. In the reverse direction, the junction is not conductive, and the current will not flow through the device.
The forward voltage drop of the JANTX1N4459 is relatively low, typically 0.35V. The reverse leakage current is also very low, typically 2mA at 25℃. This makes the JANTX1N4459 highly reliable and efficient in its application field.
