L5970D013TR is a DC-DC switching regulator PMIC specially designed to provide a post-regulation module with adjustable output voltage suitable for embedded systems. It is an excellent choice for applications such as automotive, consumer electronics, white goods, computing, industrial, lighting, battery-powered equipment and medical. The L5970D013TR adopts a high efficiency, linear regulation technique to provide up to 3A/3.3V/3.3A (3.3V@1.38A) output current. Input voltage range is 4.5V-20V, output voltage range is 0.9V~5V and output power is 15W with 3A current. Its operating temperature range is -40℃~85℃ and it offers protection features such as over current, over voltage and thermal shutdown. The PMIC’s working principle includes an internal pulse width-modulated (PWM) controller that regulates an internal switching device. This integrated, high-efficiency design enables precise adjustment of the output voltage. The switching frequency can be in the range of 200kHz to 1.2MHz. The L5970D013TR also features an adjustable slope compensation for precise voltage regulation. The flexible synchronous output stage offers high efficiency, precise output voltage and sense capabilities. For synchronizing the single-ended outputs, one requires to connect the SYNC pin to the feedback signal. Alternatively, the output voltage can be trimmed and stabilized by connecting the PGOOD signal to the feedback input. Additionally, the device also delivers current in the reverse direction, which gives further flexibility to the designer. The L5970D013TR uses a high-frequency PWM technique to maximize the efficiency of the switching power supply. Through current-mode control, it provides fast transient response and better dynamic performance. The L5970D013TR is also available in a power-saving, low temperature offset mode for low currents and long-term operation. The L5970D013TR supports a wide variety of applications including Automotive, Consumer electronics, White goods, Computing and Industrial lighting. Its PIN out includes several features like Enable, Feedback and Soft Start functions which makes it ideal for use in switching regulators with adjustable output. In addition, the device is available in over-current and over-voltage protection to eliminate the risk of damage. The L5970D013TR is a versatile, high efficiency DC-DC switching regulator PMIC solution with a wide input range and adjustable output voltage.
