The L6722TR is a best-in-class, high-precision voltage regulator optimized for use in point-of-load (POL) power conversion applications. It is a switching regulator controller offering very high efficiency, low noise, and low quiescent current operation. It is designed to operate in a voltage range of 2.25V to 24V and is well suited for applications requiring high output current, high peak efficiency and low standby power dissipation. The device features an on-chip flash memory to store LDO’s configuration parameters and also a high frequency linear regulator (L1) as an output stage.
The L6722TR is a single non-synchronous buck regulator offering a quasi-image regulation, PFC (active power factor correction), HIP (High-input-voltage Protection) and a configurable soft-start function.
This L6722TR device is well suited for applications such as high performance computer Core voltage applications (>90%), Graphics Cards, Flash Memory, RAID Controllers, Mother Board/PCI/ISA Bus cards, FPGAs, System Boards, Video Memory, SSDs, Hard Drives, and other general-purpose DC-DC applications.

Working Principle
The L6722TR operates in a non-synchronous buck mode, using a single inductor with a switched capacitor at its output as a power stage. The switching frequency is programmable by two resistive dividers and can be set for optimum stability and noise suppression.
The device incorporates an on-chip control block containing a dedicated voltage error amplifier, oscillator, linear voltage regulator and current sense amplifier. This provides a continuously monitored local feedback loop for stable, predictable and accurate output regulation at all current loads and temperatures. The device further incorporates a high frequency linear regulator with two external components, which can be enabled to smooth switching transients and reduce output ripple.
The output voltage is digital-programmable via an ‘I2C’ digital interface. This provides the capability to store a number of user-defined voltage set-points in internal memory and to switch back-and-forth between multiple stored levels via external command.
The L6722TR also provides protection against overvoltage and overcurrent conditions, as well as a configurable soft-start function to ensure safe and smooth start-up.
