TVS (Transient voltage suppressor) diodes offer protection against damaging voltage transients that can be caused due to switching spikes and lightning strikes. The LCE20A-E3/73 is a unidirection TVS diode designed to protect electronic circuits from excessively high voltage transients. The LCE20A-E3/73 is an axial leaded TVS diode that works on the principle of exceeding the Maximum Clamping Voltage (MCV). In this device, the MCV is 20A and the peak pulse current is 375A which is extremely suitable for high surge protection. The unique construction of the LCE20A-E3/73 involves a low profile, a wide operating temperature range and an improved failure mode that makes it ideal for high speed, low profile, automotive, industrial and telecom applications.

The main application of the LCE20A-E3/73 is to provide protection against low to medium level electrical transients. The working principle of the LCE20A-E3/73 is very simple. It consists of two very basic components – a zener diode and a voltage suppressor.
