LCE28A is a kind of TVS (transient voltage suppressors) diode. As a unique kind of semiconductor, the TVS diode is designed to protect electrical and electronic components from transients caused by electrostatic discharge, inductive load switching, Lightning and other high-energy events. It is a form of diode which is specifically designed to clamp the voltage when it exceeds a certain magnitude. It can then absorb this excess energy and dissipate it in the form of heat. Application Field

Working Principle

LCE28A belongs to the diode type of TVS which has two pins. When high voltage is inputted, it can absorb and conduct the current to protect the devices. The TVS diode also has an active region where it can simulate polysilicon diode or transistor to provide overvoltage protection.

The working principle of LCE28A is based on reverse breakdown voltage, which is the breakdown voltage when the current flows in the opposite direction. When the voltage exceeds the reverse breakdown voltage on the diode, the current passes through as a surge or transient pulse, and the diode is triggered to divert the current to ground. Thus, the voltage drop across the diode is greatly reduced, reducing the voltage on the device side.
