LM25085AMYX/NOPB works in a continuous conduction mode (CCM). In this mode, current flows through two arms of the power switch, the high side and the low side. When a certain voltage level is reached, the high-side switch is switched on and current flows through the high-side switch. When the current reaches a certain level, the high-side switch is switched off and current stops flowing through the high-side switch. At the same time, the low-side switch is switched on and the current flows through the low-side switch. This process is repeated for every cycle, resulting in a continuous flow of current and a regulated output voltage. As the input voltage changes, the duty cycle is adjusted accordingly to maintain the output voltage. The LM25085AMYX/NOPB includes a unique current balance circuit, which eliminates the need for external sensing switches. This eliminates the need to add extra switching devices, reducing cost and complexity. The current balance circuit is also used to sense voltage across the inductor and current through the switches. If the sensed voltage exceeds the programmed preset, then pulse is given to the external MOSFETs for the protection.Conclusion
