The LM3000SQX/NOPB is a type of DC-DC switching controller. It also comes with several features such as a built-in voltage regulator, over-current and over-voltage protection, operational temperature range of -40 to 85 degree Celsius, current limiting circuit and frequency foldback protection. Additionally, the LM3000 has a low current standby/sleep mode consumption of up to 10mW. All of these features make it an ideal choice for high current load applications.

The LM3000’s working principle involves both fixed-frequency, on-time control, and peak-current mode control. In fixed-frequency, the current is regulated with the switching frequency held constant. In the peak-current mode, the controller regulates the current passing through the power stages by sensing the peak current of each cycle. This mode gives the LM3000 its high efficiency and makes it suitable for a wide variety of power conversions applications, such as motor control, lighting, solar power conversion, microgrid systems and more.

The LM3000’s novel design includes low-side gate-drive circuitry, a separate internal master oscillator that produces the precise timing pulses and a dynamic high-side gate Current Sense Amplifier that provides enhanced current phase regulation. This design helps to ensure precise current regulation of the resonant converter, even when the load changes suddenly, resulting in improved power system stability, accuracy and efficiency of the output.

The LM3000 is suited for applications with high current load and high efficiency requirements. It can be used for DC–DC conversion, DC-AC conversion, and AC-DC conversion, along with a wide variety of other power conversion applications. For example, it can be used to power mobile devices, Solar Inverters and even Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs).
