Working principle

The Inputs of LM306PG4 consist of a threshold, Hysteresis, and a reference pin. The output of the comparator is open-drain, and can sink or source current up to 25mA. The working principle of the LM306PG4 is quite simple. The device compares the voltage on the Input pin to the voltage on the Reference pin and outputs either a High or Low depending on the comparison. When the voltage on the Input pin is less than or equal to the voltage on the Reference pin, the Output pin goes low. When the voltage on the input pin is greater than the voltage on the Reference pin, the Output pin goes high.

The LM306PG4 also features a built-in Hysteresis pin, which functions as a level shifter.
