PMIC - Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators The LM3207TL-2.53/NOPB is a tiny DC/DC converter designed to deliver high-efficiency power conversion in the most demanding applications. This delivers up to 3A output current and offers a low dropout voltage. It utilizes a constant frequency (CF) control technique and supports up to an 8MHz switching frequency range to optimize efficiency and optimize the size of the output inductor and bulk capacitance. The chip features a full range output voltage range of 2.4 volts, adjustable output down to 1.0 volt, low quiescent current, and high efficiency, making it ideal for space-constrained applications, such as portable electronic equipment, industrial and automotive applications.The LM3207TL-2.53/NOPB regulator consists of two power stages: a power stage to regulate the output voltage, and a control stage to generate the control signal for the power stage. The power stage consists of a low side MOSFET, an input filter, a boost converter and an output filter, an over-voltage protection circuit, and a temperature protection circuit. The power stage is based on a constant frequency (CF) architecture, which allows the chip to operate over a wide range of load conditions with minimal load and line regulation. The output voltage can be programmed with external resistors, range from 1.0V to 2.4V. The current limit of the power stage is adjustable with an external sense resistor, and is set by a precision voltage reference and a voltage follower connected to the power stage output.The control stage of the LM3207TL-2.53/NOPB consists of a frequency control circuit, a pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) stage, and a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The frequency control circuit adjusts the switching cycle of the PWM stage according to the variations in line/load conditions. This is then used to regulate the current flowing in the output inductor by changing the duty cycle.
