LM3208TLEV is an evaluation board for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). It is a fully integrated off-line/DC-DC/AC-DC converter with a high single-stage efficiency over a wide input voltage range. LM3208TLEV features a wide 3.3V-25V input voltage range, 1A output current, under-voltage-lockout, thermal shutdown, and cycle-by-cycle current limit. It also provides ruggedness to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD), over-current protection (OCP), and over-temperature protection (OTP).
The LM3208TLEV application field includes high-end consumer electronics, industrial applications, automotive electronics, medical equipment, communications, and wireless power systems. It is a suitable power solution for applications with a variety of input voltage requirements, such as AC/DC and DC/DC converters, DC/AC inverters, battery-powered systems, and voltage regulators. The board consists of the following main components:
- Primary Control IC: LM3208TLEV includes a dedicated control IC, the LM3208T, specifically designed for off-linemode-switching power supplies. This provides a fully integrated single-stage architecture with high-performance over a wide input voltage range
- Power Switches: This board contains a pair of power MOSFETs, one P-Channel and one N-Channel, forming an inverting-H-bridge, which is used for power switching. The P-Channel MOSFETs are rated for up to 30V and the N-Channel MOSFETs are rated for up to 60V.
- External components: The board also includes several external components such as inductor, output capacitor, and Schottky diode.
- Input capacitor and rectifier: An input capacitor is placed at the VIN input for filtering and an external rectifier is placed at the VOUT output to improve efficiency.
