The LM3671TL-1.875/NOPB is a monolithic integrated circuit from the voltage regulator line of DC to DC switching regulators. This regulator is ideal for providing a low-dropout voltage to maintain the stability of a small footprint portable system. It provides small size, low-quiescent current, low-volt drop, as well as operating temperature range of -40° to 85°C, and is a factory calibrated fixed output voltage of 1.875V.

Application Field

The LM3671TL-1.875/NOPB is recommended for the applications such as a portable system main processor, microprocessor core voltage rail, typically in the range of 2V to 4.5V. For example, it can be used to provide a low-output voltage such as 1.8V with a low-dropout voltage of 50 mV @ 200mA output current for a portable system\'s microprocessor.

The LM3671TL-1.875/NOPB is also suitable for converting a fixed-voltage higher source, from 2V to (Vin - 0.5V), to 1.875V fixed-voltage output for the input voltage range from 2V to 5.5V with a maximum output current limit of 200mA. Additionally, its design allows for the adjustment of the output voltage to an adjustable voltage output with a single resistor when the applications require.

Working Principle

The LM3671TL-1.875/NOPB incorporates a TinyPWMR current-mode pulse width modulator (PWM) with a 0.9V reference voltage and a high-bandwidth error amplifier, allowing good line and load transient response. The current-mode control gives fast transient response and is ideal for low-voltage or high-current applications. The TinyPWMR internal output stage is a high-side switch that is ideal for operations with boosted input sources.

The TinyPWMR allows the designer to set switching frequency with an external resistor. The device allows 8 typical switching frequencies from from 1.1 MHz to 4.4 MHz to choose from. Additionally, two pins of the TinyPWMR are fully protected from the input supply under-voltage lockouts (UVLO). The user can select two different voltage levels for the UVLO, giving flexibility in low standby current and fast start-up for the TinyPWMR.

The LM3671TL-1.875/NOPB also features an internal temperature shutdown and current fold-back. The junction temperature over temperature (TSD) is to protect the device from any thermal overload conditions. If a short-circuit condition occurs, current limit is immediately activated and limits the output current to a fixed maximum value. A fast current-limiting response ensures that the integrated circuit is not damaged by over-current conditions, while allowing higher power dissipation.

With its low dropout voltage, low quiescent current, wide operating temperature range, and low power dissipation, the LM3671TL-1.875/NOPB is an ideal choice for use as a low-dropout voltage regulator for a small form factor portable system.
