The LM5071EVAL/NOPB is an evaluation module that demonstrates the functionality and performance level of the LM5071 dual-channel synchronous buck controller in DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS appications. The LM5071EVAL/NOPB includes all essential circuit components to implement a standard non-isolated buck converter topology and is designed to demonstrate a variety of operating modes such as spread-spectrum, dual-phase operation, and pulse-skipping. Designed to be used as a development platform for a customer\'s application, the evaluation module includes a minimal bill of material and a designed printed circuit board (PCB) to help reduce development time. The two channels of the LM5071EVAL/NOPB can operate either standalone or synchronously, allowing the designer to test both of these modes without additional external components. Both channels have the same footprint, completing the evaluation of the controllers in a single place. Furthermore, the evaluation board includes a step-up circuit, which includes a kickback diode to provide bias to the LM5071, allowing the system to remain powered in low-load conditions when using an impedance source.The Pulse-Skipping Mode of the LM5071EVAL/NOPB offers smooth and efficient transitions between the power domains at light-load conditions, allowing the designer to reduce the ripple content. In this mode, the duty cycle of the pulses is effectively reduced, making the system suitable for systems where low-noise operation is paramount. In the Spread-Spectrum Mode, the LM5071EVAL/NOPB implements a dithering feature to reduce the peak currents, which reduces radiated and conducted emissions. Operating the converter with a dithering frequency of up to 400kHz allows designers to reduce the risk of susceptibility to interference from any external electromagnetic field or other sources.The dual-phase operation Mode of LM5071EVAL/NOPB currently offers one of the highest regulator integration currently available on the market. By delivering the desired load voltage to the load through two converters in parallel, the need for a compensation network for fixed frequency operation is eliminated, which helps reduce the overall development cycle time. The dual-phase operation mode also offers the potential of higher power delivery.The LM5071EVAL/NOPB evaluation module includes a controller board with an integrated STO signal generator, an adjustable voltage output connector, which provides an accurate voltage output, and a thorough user\'s guide. To reduce development cycle time, the evaluation board also provides a wide variety of experimental configurations, including manual point switching, enabling quick and easy testing of most applied conditions. This allows the user to monitor a large variety of device characteristics from a single board. Overall, the LM5071EVAL/NOPB is a perfect tool for a wide variety of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications. It includes a minimal bill of materials (BoM) and a designed printed circuit board (PCB) which helps reduce development time.
