The LM5067MM-1/NOPB is a hot swap controller designed by Texas Instruments. This device is specifically designed to allow a logic circuit to control a system that has power rail voltage source that is much higher than the logic operating voltage. It provides wide regulation range suitable for driving low-voltage CPUs and a low RDS(on)MOSFET for peak currents during warm boot cycles. Compared to manual hot swap solutions, it simplifies system design, lowers parts count, and adds the advantage of allowing microprocessor operation from the initial application of power. In addition, the integrated circuit provides temperature compensation, input power sequencing, and selectable slew rates for controlling in-rush currents in the event of cold reboot or initial power-up of the unit.
The LM5067MM-1/NOPB is based on the Constant Voltage Constant Current (CVCC) concept, so it has built-in current limit in the 3.3V to 24V input voltage range. Thus, the current limit is set at a fixed level and thus, the power supply design is simplified and cost-effectiveness is improved. The integrated circuit also comes with an adjustable threshold voltage to help limit the inrush current. This feature allows the user to select the minimum voltage that the output voltage should reach before it is allowed to ramp up to the nominal value. The components such as logic threshold and power supply shutdown are also monitored and programmable.
Internally, the LM5067MM-1/NOPB uses an inherently safe topology, allowing the device to operate from input voltages that are much higher than the device\'s output voltage.
