The LM5117EVAL/NOPB is a versatile evaluation board designed to evaluate the LM5117 dual inverting buck-boost regulator. The LM5117EVAL/NOPB is an ideal choice for applications where accurate control, robust operation and quality power supply are important considerations. The LM5117EVAL/NOPB is a mainboard integrated with two LM5117s (A0 and A1), an RS-485 converter module (LEU184), two DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS (suitable for both isolated and non-isolated supplies), and a variable speed fan to improve the device’s thermal control. It is ideal for applications such as motor control, automotive lighting, LED lighting, and industrial motor control.
The LM5117 is a dual-inverting buck-boost regulator which offers the convenience and flexibility of a buck-boost regulator plus the accuracy and response of a synchronous buck regulator. This is achieved by combining a buck-boost topology with a linear regulator to create a voltage platform that can track the input voltage and provide a regulated output regardless of the changing input voltage. The core topology of the LM5117 is a synchronous buck-boost which uses voltage scaling (instead of current sensing) to regulate the output voltage. It allows for the constant tracking and regulation of an output voltage as the input voltage varies from the nominal to the output voltage.
