Working Principle
The LM5642XMHX\'s main job is correcting voltage fluctuations or ripple, which is caused by the power supply switching frequencies or load current changes on a line or bus. An internal error amplifier constantly monitors the input and output voltages, and adjusts the average output voltage of the regulator to match the set point. When the set point is reached, the error amplifier stops the switching cycle.
The AC ripple is generated when the regulator is operated in the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) regulator mode. This technique uses two switching transistors that instead of operating in steady state generate pulses at a desired frequency maintaining the output voltage closer to the set point.
