<p>Temperature is one of the most important factors that dictate a product’s performance. LM56BIMX/NOPB is a temperature sensor that falls in the category of temperature sensors with analog and digital outputs.</p><p>The LM56BIMX/NOPB is a temperature-to-voltage sensor designed to accurately measure temperature over a wide temperature range. It uses an on-chip transducer, comprising of an NTC thermistor, to detect temperature. The voltage output of the resistive network is proportional to temperature and is easily processed by a range of analog-to-digital converters, allowing digital, calibrated temperature measurements. The LM56BIMX/NOPB is designed to be driven directly by a microcontroller or microprocessor, eliminating the need for external components.</p><p>The LM56BIMX/NOPB’s transducer, an NTC thermistor embedded in a ceramic package, has a wide temperature range of -40°C to +105°C (-40°F to +221°F). The thermistor exhibits a temperature coefficient of -3.65 mV/°C, providing an output accuracy better than ±1°C over the entire temperature range, while the output itself is adjustable between 0.5 mV/°C to 4 mV/°C.</p><p>In addition to its small size, the LM56BIMX/NOPB has an internal temperature trimming circuit to adjust the offset voltage or to compensate for temperature hysteresis. This enables the LM56BIMX/NOPB to accurately measure temperature variations over a wide range and across different temperature coefficients. The device offers both linear and logarithm output to allow for adjustable temperature calibration options.</p><p>The LM56BIMX/NOPB is particularly well-suited for applications that require accurate temperature readings over a wide temperature range and in challenging environments. Examples of such applications include environment monitoring, heat control, remote sensing, automotive solutions, and much more. The device is available in an 8-pin SOP or an 8-pin TSSOP package, making it suitable for use in space-constrained designs, and it is also able to withstand an extended temperature range of -50°C to +135°C (-58°F to +275°F) without any performance degradation.</p><p>In summary, the LM56BIMX/NOPB is an ideal temperature-to-voltage sensor for applications that require accurate temperature readings in a wide temperature range and in challenging environments.
