Working Principle
The LM9074MX/NOPB is a linear regulator with a low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator. The output voltage is determined by the voltage regulator that is controlled by a feedback loop. The feedback loop adjusts the output voltage according to the difference between the actual output voltage and the set output voltage. The LDO regulator uses a pass element to drop the voltage between the input and output voltage. The pass element is usually a field-effect transistor (FET) which operates in linear mode, so that the output voltage is relatively stable at all loads.When the input voltage exceeds the output voltage, the feed-back loop’s error amplifier gets its signal from the voltage divider. The voltage divider provides a fraction of the output voltage to the error amplifier allowing it to adjust the pass element for the desired output voltage.
