Working Principle
The LMV821M5X/NOPB combines the precision and stability of an instrumentation amplifier with the high-speed low-noise performance of an operational amplifier (Op-Amp). It is a dual-input single-output amplifier featuring two cascaded series-connected Op-Amp stages (A1, A2). An external voltage reference is applied to the non-inverting inputs of the two Op-Amps (A1 and A2). Product inputs are supplied to the non-inverting input of A1, and the output of A1 is connected to the inverting input of A2.
The gain of the amplifier is determined by the ratio of the resistors connected to A1 and A2. A resistor network is used to provide isolation and a low output impedance. The gain of the amplifier is set externally and is independent of the supply voltage. The input voltage reaches the non-inverting input of A1 and passes through the resistor R1 (its resistance is R1/R2+R1) and the differential amplifier A1. The output voltage of A1 is then fed to the inverting input of A2, which amplifies it by the same gain and sends it to the output. Because the inputs of A1 and A2 are supplied with the same voltage, the common-mode voltage is rejected, ensuring a large CMRR.
