The LP38859SX-0.8 is a 1A Low Dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator designed for cost-sensitive market, integrated with protection features such as over-temperature, short circuit protection and failure flag. This low dropout regulator is shipped in a 5-pin SOT-23 package and can provide a wide range of output voltage from 0.8 V to 5 V with a minimum dropout voltage of 150 mV, excellent line and load regulation performance, and a maximum output current of 1 A.The LP38859SX-0.8 linear regulator is designed to provide a cost effective, low noise and a reliable power solution for a wide range of applications such as White Goods, Automotive, Datacom & Telecom, Medical Devices, Consumer Electronics and etc.The LP38859SX-0.8 is a low dropout voltage regulator, which is a kind of linear voltage regulator and works with a fixed output voltage option ranging from 0.8 V to 5 V. It can supply a maximum current of 1 A. This low dropout linear regulator, also referred to as a linear voltage regulator, is composed of several components including a voltage divider network, an error amplifier and a pass transistor. In general, the operating principle of the LP38859SX-0.8 is to compare the output voltage to an internal reference voltage and feedback that information to the comparator, a differential amplifier. When the feedback voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the output of the amplifier changes state and an appropriate corrective action is taken to raise the feedback voltage to be equal to the reference voltage. The corrective action involves closing or opening the pass transistor, depending on whether the output voltage is higher or lower than the reference voltage.
