LP8727TMX/NOPB is a high performance 4-Channel LED Driver IC, manufactured exclusively by Texas Instruments. The IC is specifically tailored for applications requiring high efficiency and low noise switching of loads with current ratings up to 200mA/channel. This topology uses a single-stage buck/boost converter, where the voltage output is controlled by the input voltage, the current limit setting as well as the voltage across the load (LED). This buck/boost topology offers several advantages over other topologies, including high current output accuracy, wide input voltage range, low component count, small printed circuit board area and high efficiency. The IC also offers several features to improve its performance such as a programmable current limit, sleep mode current measurement, accurate current sensing and thermal foldback protection. The current limit allows the IC to limit the output current to any value between 0% to 100%. This helps to protect the LED from over-currents and avoids any damages due to excessive current draw.The IC also features a programmable sleep mode current measurement. This helps to reduce LED static power consumption by allowing the LED to remain in sleep mode when not in use.
