LT3496HUFD#TRPBF is a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed for providing drive current to LEDs. Primarily used in LED lighting applications, this device can reduce vibration, minimize time to power up, minimize power dissipation, reduce system cost and improve lighting performance by dynamically controlling the brightness and tracking of the LED current. LT3496HUFD#TRPBF\'s LED driver architecture is designed to convert digital input signals into a precise LED current, allowing precise control over the number of LED drivers and dimming modes used in LED lighting systems. It is optimized for driving up to 48 high power LEDs in series, and also provides multiple current control options for each LED driver. It is equipped with an adjustable low side current sense mode so that precise LED current settings can be set by the user.
The LT3496HUFD#TRPBF works by generating precise LED drive current from an analog or digital input, by using a fixed frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) architecture. The LED current is controlled using pulse width modulation (PWM), allowing precise on-off control with the specified LED current setting. Through use of the current sense feedback loop, the device adjusts the LED current accurately and quickly in response to the input voltage or switch status, while also providing protection against output fault and overtemperature conditions. Additionally, the device uses a sense resistor in the current sense feedback loop to provide precise LED current regulation and enable accurate control of the LED load parameter.
The LT3496HUFD#TRPBF also supports an adjustable low side current sense mode, enabling precise LED current settings by the user. The integrated current Mode control architecture allows precise control of the LED current, while minimizing EMI and current spike generation issues. The device also provides an option to connect each of the 48 LED drivers to multiple current sources, allowing up to 96 LEDs in a single block. It also provides a wide range of dimming, from static dimming to pulse width modulation (PWM). In addition, the device offers over-current protection and thermal protection, protecting both the LEDs and the power source from undesired damage.
