LT4250HCS8 is a Hot Swap Controller specifically designed for server components protection in enterprise information systems. It helps in combining with other subsystems to provide temperature monitoring and supply current protection. As an impedance-sensing Hot Swap controller, LT4250HCS8 integrates hot swap control and current protection applications, allowing for more efficient power switching. The LT4250HCS8 is a set of two Hot Swap controllers, each with its own supply current protection circuitry, integrated control outputs, and wide input voltage range. These Hot Swap controllers are optimized for voltage-control and current-sense applications, eliminating the need for external components. They also provide power sequencing, overcurrent monitoring and protection, phase-shift control and electronic current limiting.

This Hot Swap controller provides silent, delayed removal of power on removal of load, which is enabled by an autocompensation feature. This feature reduces the amount of time that the power is removed for. The Hot Swap controllers also provide overcurrent protection and auto-recovery from short-circuit conditions.

The LT4250HCS8 has a typical working principle: The hot-swap controller contains a high-side mosfet driver, a low-side mosfet detection circuit, a comparator, an adjustable voltage regulator and an auto-recovery analog control circuit. The controller compares two reference voltages, which represent the board voltage, VBOARD and the VIN voltage, VIN. When the VIN voltage is greater than VBOARD, the controller will shut down the mosfet, indicating a fault in the system. The controller also includes a manual reset input and a shutdown input for system reset and shutdown respectively.
