PMIC - Hot Swap Controllers: LTC4261IUFD#TRPBF Application Field and Working Principle
Hot Swap Controllers are integrated circuits that are used for safely inserting and removing multiple load boards and cable assemblies into and out of systems with active buses. The LTC4261IUFD#TRPBF hot swap controller is a monolithic N-channel MOSFET gate driver with foldback current limit and control. It has the ability to select the current limit foldback behavior and has protection from load transients and over-current. The LTC4261IUFD#TRPBF can be used in applications involving multiple power rails with up to 16 channels of switching.
The LTC4261IUFD#TRPBF allows current limit foldback behavior to be adjusted automatically or manually. It has two selectable current limit reference input pins – automatic or manual selected current limit that can be configured for lower resistance foldback for improved system efficiency.Its adjustable current limit can be used to protect the load from inrush current and limited power rail current from over-current conditions. Its low input/output skew ensures good electrical performance and robustness in power rail applications.

Working Principle:
The LTC4261IUFD#TRPBF hot swap controller works by limiting the current by using a foldback current limit and control feature.
