LYT4312E Application Field and Working Principle

LYT4312E is one of the AC/DC converters, offline switchers from Texas Instruments. This device consists of a low power, synchronous step down regulator with integrated FETs, as well as an integrated thermal shutdown circuit.

The Application Field of LYT4312E

The application field of this device is especially in single-cell 2.4V to 5.5V applications. This device is a small-size, low-power core in boards, allowing designers to take advantage of the PWM principles to achieve excellent system performance and high efficiency in a cost-effective BOM. It also works greatly in error amplifier ICs.

Some common cases applications of LYT4312E include: cellular base stations, PoE and PoE+ systems, motor control, Class-D audio amplifiers, industrial automation, and many more.

The Working Principle of LYT4312E

With its advanced high-frequency switching PWM topology, the LYT4312E can reduce the ripple attenuation of high-portion-network inductors and capacitors, significantly reduce the overall BOM cost, and also reduce the high-frequency radiation. It also allows accurately controlling of the power system.

At the same time, the device contains up to 2A drive current to meet the requirements for large-capacity external power MOSFET\'s and support the driving of N channel Gate resistance, even allowing the control loop of the buck converter to achieve the fastest transient response.

When the voltage of the external MOSFET is higher than that of the Drain-Source voltage of the internal upper MOSFET, C pulses will occur. To prevent Crosstalk, LYT4312E contains a shut-off circuit which can shut-off the internal upper MOSFET.

The device also features prebias start-up and integrated soft start, preventing the power system from entering undervoltage lockout state, while the soft start function can prevent the converter from inrush.

In terms of the steady-state current protection, LYT4312E has a thermal shutdown circuit which will be triggered once the current exceeds the specified value, preventing any possible damage to the device.

Meanwhile, the frequency modulation (FM) and Adaptive On Time Control (AOT) are also used in LYT4312E. They can both minimize the output voltage ripple, allowing the converter to meet the minimum local voltage requirements. Meanwhile, the FM can prevent possible output recover issues caused by external components
