MAP4KE24A is a Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) Diode which is designed to guard sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients. The MAP4KE24A products are terminal-to-terminal, dual-channel, unidirectional, and bidirectional TVS protection diodes. These devices are as effective as multilayer or combination TVS diodes, and they are used for the protection of electronic components from voltage transients induced by lightning and other causes.MAP4KE24A provides overvoltage protection for power distribution systems, communication and broadband systems, signal and control circuits, industrial equipment, and consumer applications. Its performance is such that it can meet most of the worldwide norms for surge performance in power and telecom applications, such as IEC 61000-4-2 and IEC 61000-4-5.The MAP4KE24A is divided into three types depending on the configuration of the diode. These types are: a single series diode (SSD), a double series diode (DSD), and a triple series diode (TSD). The SSD type allows for the protection of short-duration high-voltage transients. The DSD type offers protection against both short-duration and long-duration transients. The TSD type offers protection against long-duration, large magnitude transients.The working principle of MAP4KE24A can be explained as follows: When the voltage across the two terminals reaches a certain level, the MAP4KE24A will conduct current, thus clamping the voltage at a level that is safe for the electronic components being protected. The device also has special structures called ‘voltage dependent resistors’ or VDRs which help reduce overshoot which may cause device failure.The MAP4KE24A is built with a special junction structure that helps achieve its high surge-protection capability. The device has a very low clamping voltage and a very fast response time, which ensures that it will protect the electronic components from high voltage transients.The MAP4KE24A is a valuable component for many electronic applications, and it remains one of the most reliable and cost-effective solutions for surge and transient protection.
