Working Principle of MAP4KE300AE3

MAP4KE300AE3 is a silicon TVS diode that offers industry-leading protection in a ultra-low capacitance and ultra-tiny footprint. It can handle surge pulses up to 400W (10/1000µs). The device also has a PMOS (PMOS) body diode protection which helps to ease EMI/RMI filtering requirements.The basic operating principle of a TVS diode is simple. A voltage surge caused by lightning or other transient voltage events causes a large current to flow through the diode’s terminals. The diode then acts as a gatekeeper, allowing only a predetermined amount of current to pass through, protecting the connected device from damage.When an incoming surge voltage is above the diode’s clamping voltage, it will turn on and start conducting current, thus limiting the voltage between its terminals and thus protecting other components from overvoltage conditions. As soon as the power pulse is over, the diode will turn off again.
