Since analog-to-digital conversion plays a vital role in number of embedded applications, the MAX11150EVKIT board allows users to evaluate the performance of MAX11150EV, a 16-bit resolving 8-channel analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with voltage reference, selectable input ranges, and digital-to-analog-converter (DAC) outputs.
The MAX11150EVKIT circuit incorporates multiple ADC integrated circuits and discrete components to form a comprehensive evaluation package of this high-performance design. In addition to the integrated circuits, there are several sets of signals that connect to external components. Output signals from the board connects with external PC boards, providing a safety margin for operators. The board also contains a number of LEDs that indicate the operating status of the device.
The device is an ADC board where the analog input signals are monitored, processed and converted into a digital output which is then read by the processor. The ADC takes the analog input and converts it into four discrete steps consisting of a midscale, a low transition, and a high transition. The ADC then reads each discrete step sequentially and converts the data into a 16-bit binary code.
The output of the ADC board is routed to the processor through a series of interface signals. The interface signals facilitate the communication between the processor and the device, and enable the processor to read the digital data from the ADC.
