Data Acquisition – Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) technology is used to convert analog signals into digital forms. While ADCs are common, MAX166BCWP+ belongs to a special class of ADC known as a sigma-delta converter. The MAX166BCWP+ is a high performance, low power, monolithic, single-supply, 10-bit sigma-delta A/D converter. The outputs from the modulator are sent to an input switched capacitor filter for further phase and amplitude shaping. The output from the filter is then sent to a 10-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC. The SAR core provides the final conversion from analog to digital information, from which the output code is generated.
The MAX166BCWP+ is designed for use in a variety of different applications including automotive, communication, and video. In automotive applications, it is ideal for a variety of different sensor applications such as pressure and temperature. In communication applications, it is well-suited for analog-to-digital converters in mobile phones and laptop computers.
