The MAX117EVKIT-DIP is an evaluation board containing an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). It is designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the MAX117 low power, 10-bit/14-bit (optional) data acquisition system. The MAX117EVKIT-DIP provides an easy, user-friendly environment for evaluating MAX117 performance and features.
The MAX117EVKIT-DIP includes a MAX117 sampling circuit, which is a low-power, versatile data acquisition system with an output accuracy of up to 14 bits (optional). The MAX117 sampling circuit provides an integrated signal preamplifier that offers a wide dynamic range ranging from +2 V to -2 V. The signal preamplifier also provides an adjustable gain up to 128 x. The MAX117 sampling circuit includes a low-power, high-performance ADC, which is capable of sampling at a rate of up to 200Msps. The MAX117 sampler also includes a digital signal processing unit which performs up to three stages of digital filtering, providing improved noise and dynamic range performance.
The MAX117EVKIT-DIP evaluation board also includes a range of features for interfacing with the sampling circuit and performing data acquisition, including a USB communication interface, five colour-coded test points, a power switch, an integrated voltage regulator, and a multi-functional interface. The USB interface allows the user to easily program the sampling parameters and communicate with the MAX117 using the included MAX117 Evaluation Software.
The MAX117EVKIT-DIP evaluation board includes an additional interface for control and monitoring. The interface consists of two TFT LCD panels, a 6 buttons keys, and a 500mAh Li-Ion battery. The TFT LCD panels is used to provide a graphical user interface for the user to adjust sampling parameters and gain settings, and to monitor acquired data. The TFT LCD panels can also display waveforms of the sampled input signals.
The MAX117EVKIT-DIP also includes an RS232 serial interface, an 8bit 8051 processor, and a set of embedded software libraries which enable easy integration of the sampling circuit into a larger system. The embedded software libraries provide an API (Application Programming Interface) for reading, writing, and controlling the ADC’s registers, as well as performing data acquisition and data transfer.
In addition, the MAX117EVKIT-DIP evaluation board includes an External Clock Synchronization protocol, which enables synchronization of the sampling clock. This is useful for synchronization with an external clock source, ensuring sample-by-sample accuracy.
Overall, the MAX117EVKIT-DIP evaluation board provides an easy-to-use testing environment for evaluating the MAX117 ADC, and for performing various types of analog-to-digital data acquisition.
