Working Principle
The MAX11801GTC/V+ measures the touch pressure by detecting the voltage drop across two electrodes when a finger or stylus contacts the touch-screen surface. It has three sensing modes: Four-Wire Mode, Four-Wire Autocal Mode, and Dual-Wire Mode. In Four-Wire Mode, the MAX11801GTC/V+ applies a charge and checks the voltage developed across the X and Y electrodes. It then measures the touch pressure at the X, Y, and Z axes. In Four-Wire Autocal Mode and Dual-Wire Mode, the controller automatically compensates for line resistance and offsets. This makes the measurements more accurate. The MAX11801GTC/V+ is also resistant to noise and electrical interference, making it suitable for noisy environments.
The MAX11801GTC/V+ supports manual sampling, periodic sampling, and windowing. In manual sampling, the chip only senses when commanded. In periodic sampling mode, the chip samples the X, Y, and Z axes at regular intervals.
