Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs) are frequently used in various engineering applications. The MAX125EVKIT evaluation board aims to simplify the testing and evaluation of the MAX125, a highly reliable, 24-bit, low-power, sigma-delta, analog-to-digital converter, with excellent dynamic performance. This evaluation kit includes a versatile and proven printed circuit board, components, and circuits that are dedicated to the measurement and evaluation of the MAX125 ADC. The evaluation board has been designed to accurately demonstrate the features of the MAX125. It can be used for instrumentation, process control, audio, digital signal processing, telecommunication, home automation, and other similar applications.The MAX125EVKIT evaluation board helps in rapidly testing and evaluating the analog-to-digital conversion of the MAX125. The evaluation board includes various components, such as power supply, input selection switches, precision resistors, and capacitors, which are used to configure the circuit around the device for better performance. It also contains a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and a sample-and-hold priming circuit, which helps to minimize noise and power consumption. The ADC feeds its digital data into the 8-bit, 3-channel reference digital-to-analog converter (DAC), allowing the user to display the captured data.The operation of the MAX125EVKIT involves the following steps. First, the board is connected to a power supply, which provides the necessary digital and analog voltage rails. Then, the user can adjust the input gain and offset by using the input selection switches and precision resistors. After that, the programmable gain amplifier is configured for the desired gain. The analog input is then fed into the sample-and-hold priming circuit, which applies a digital clock pulse to the CAP+ and CAP- pins of the ADC. This action capacitatively stores the analog signal at the ADC’s input. Next, the read mode of the digital output of the ADC is changed from single-ended to differential to minimize any noise present in the input signal.
