The MAX14676AEWO+T is an integrated power management solution designed to maximize performance in POL/battery-based systems. It combines a step-down DC-DC converter, Li-Ion/Li-Polymer battery charger, and low-dropout linear regulators. The power IC includes both a controller and a driver IC, enabling independent power rail control and a wide input voltage range. The MAX14676AEWO+T is a complete, integrated power solution providing output voltages from 0.8V to 6.5V and up to 85W of adjustable output power.
The MAX14676AEWO+T is ideal for POL (Point of Load) applications requiring PCI Express, SAS/SATA, USB, HDMI, and other high-quality analog/digital rails. The integrated DC-DC converter and battery charger enable efficient power conversion and accurate battery charging, while the linear regulators provide lower noise and excellent transient response. Each output voltage can be set independently via an I2C or SMBus interface, allowing for perfect power matching and dynamic power rail management.
The MAX14676AEWO+T is designed for applications running from a 3.2V to 20V rail, ranging from automotive and industrial to consumer and communications applications. The integrated power IC also offers superior EMI performance and best-in-class efficiency due to the use of low-RDS(ON) synchronous MOSFETs and integrated current sense. The MAX14676AEWO+T is available in a compact, automotive-grade, 20-pin SSOP package, and is specified to operate over -40°C to +125°C.
The MAX14676AEWO+T features a patented charger architecture that reduces external component count and improves accuracy by integrating a buck controller, comparator and key charging parameters into one device. In battery charging applications, the MAX14676AEWO+T offers autonomous operation and three operation modes: initial pre-charge, constant current/constant voltage, and trickle charge. The device has built-in safety features, such as an adjustable UVLO and over-voltage protection on the buck channel and a low output voltage disconnect on the linear channel.
The MAX14676AEWO+T offers high efficiency over a wide input and output voltage range, and is capable of providing higher output current when the input voltage is less than 5V. The device is a cost-effective and fully-integrated solution for POL/battery-based systems and is designed to minimize component count and size, while ensuring superior efficiency and performance.
