MAX14690EVKIT# is a highly integrated, flexible and powerful evaluation and demonstration board and kit that enables customers to rapidly and confidently prototype applications ranging from wearable medical sensors to handheld and industrial consumer products.

The MAX14690EVKIT# board is designed with the Maxim Integrated MAX14690 ultra-low power MCU for easy connection with any I2C or SPI peripherals. It is powered with a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), three digital-to-analog converters (DACs), two comparators and digital I/O. This provides a self-contained evaluation platform for designing power-efficient, feature-rich microcontrollers for a variety of applications.

The board is based on the 8051 architecture microcontroller. The ultra-low power 8051 architecture allows it to be used at very low power in battery powered solutions such as wearable medical sensors. This microcontroller is also favorable for use in handheld and industrial products, as it can run the device with a battery life of up to one year. The MAX14690EVKIT# board has an I2C bus or universal serial bus (USB) interface that allows it to connect to a range of peripherals, such as digital audio players, or LCD and keypad components.

MAX14690EVKIT# board’s working principle is quite simple. It combines a set of memory, a processor, and I/O modules to execute instructions, manipulate memory and I/O registers, and interact with external devices. The microcontroller can run programs written in C or assembly language to perform specific tasks like controlling the device functions, user interface, and data acquisition. The MAX14690EVKIT# board is programmed using the Maxim Integrated MAXStudio™ software for both the development board and external I2C connected peripherals.
