The MAX1489EEPD+ is a high-performance differential line driver, receiver, and transceiver operating from a single 3.3V supply that combines low power consumption, high ESD protection, comprehensive fault protection and programmable outputs. This integrated circuit is designed for use in industrial and commercial applications requiring transport of differential signals over long distances for high EMI immunity.The MAX1489EEPD+ offers an increase in line driver and receiver performance, minimize noise, and reduce system power consumption over traditional EIA/TIA-485 communication interface circuits. The MAX1489EEPD+ features dual high-speed differential line driver and receiver pairs. Each line driver’s output is protected against shorts to either ground or VCC and against long time over-temperature operation. The receiver inputs have internal protection diodes that can withstand positive and negative transient bursts of up to 30 V without damage. The receiver inputs also have on-chip buffers to reduce the loading of secondary stages and improve overall performance.The MAX1489EEPD+ incorporates a maximum slew-rate control for extended EMC performance, allowing for decreased rise/fall times and greater immunity to EMI.
