The MAX14914EVKIT# is a evaluation and demonstration boards and kits designed for applications in 100+Gbps Ethernet sensing and test systems. Using high-performance Texas Instruments MAX14914 gigabit sensing platform, this EVKIT# supports multiple measurements to help evaluate and optimize 10G PAM2-SR10 Ethernet systems.
The MAX14914EVKIT# helps in the evaluation and demonstration of Ethernet sensing technology in data center and telecom test systems. It consists of six modules, including a main board, a pulse transform board, four sensing modules, and a power adapter module. Each of the MAX14914EVKIT# module helps with various types of measurements such as eye diagrams, signal propagation measurements, jitter measurements, fidelity measurements, and channel tests.
The main board of the MAX14914EVKIT# module features three connection ports, including a SMA connection port for signal synchronous sampling, a DB mini-9 connector for up to 20x high-speed analog channels, and a USB3.0 connection port for control and data acquisition. It uses the Texas Instruments MAX14914 gigabit sensing platform with its patent-pending high-performance Ethernet pattern lock technology, allowing for signal sampling to be "locked" on an Ethernet eye pattern.
The pulse transform board uses Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to process the Ethernet pulses captured by the main board. It performs pulse analysis at up to 4Gbaud/Mcps to help with pulse characterization measurements. This pulse transform board can be powered up with the PMOD connector and understand a wide variety of commands for data slicing operations.
The four sensing modules for the MAX14914EVKIT# contain clocks of various frequency outputs to help measure the fidelity of various signal patterns, such as 10G PAM2-SR. Each module includes an internal high-speed ADC, allowing for analog sampling of the corresponding signal pattern as well as digital analysis techniques. These modules also include several hardware control features which help in adjusting the clock, temperature and voltage parameters.
The power adapter module provides clean and stable power to the evaluation and demonstration boards and kits. This power adapter module supports various input voltage and current ranges, allowing for faster system startup and greater power savings. It provides an active Power Factor Correction (PFC) and automatic voltage control to better control inrush current.
By using the MAX14914EVKIT# evaluation and demonstration boards and kits, users can quickly evaluate and demonstrate a wide variety of Ethernet sensing applications. In combination with the Texas Instruments MAX14914 high-performance gigabit sensing platform, this EVKIT# helps in optimizing 10G PAM2-SR10 Ethernet systems, and measuring signal propagation, jitter, eye diagrams, fidelity, and channel measurements with ease.
