The MAX14979EETX+ of the Texas Instruments interface analog switches family is a dual-channel, low-voltage, low-power, low-charge injection, low-bounce multiplexer analog switch. It is fabricated in low-voltage CMOS and is designed for mobile or battery-operated applications where space is a premium and power consumption is a priority. This product is specified with a wide operating supply voltage range of 1.71 V to 5.5 V, and with an extended temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. It is available in a tiny 8-bump, 0.5-mm x 0.5-mm, chip scale package (UCSP) and Tiny Bull\'s-Eye package.
The MAX14979EETX+ has integrated digital control logic, which enables logic-level signals to control the switch-resistor operation and digital control for the analog signals connected to the conductive paths. This feature allows the designer to use the device for standard switch applications, as well as for special-purpose analog functions. Its main application fields are analog signal distribution and level shifting, digital switching, logic control switching, and analog isolation.
Its architecture consists of two independent, bidirectional switches, with each regulatory function controlled through separate logic inputs. The switches are controlled digitally, one by pin A and the other by pin B. The switches are closed when the logic input is high and opened when the logic input is low. High-performance, low-voltage CMOS and submicron CMOS fabrication technologies are used to minimize the on-resistance and the flatness variation of the on-resistance with the supply voltage.
In terms of it working principle, the MAX14979EETX+ features an integrated control logic that enables on/off switching of two 10-Ω channels. When engaged, the switch connects the input to the output. If the logic input is high, the switch is closed and an analog signal passes through. A low logic input causes the switch to remain open, and the analog signal will not pass through. It provides very low on-resistance performance which ensures an optimal device operation. Furthermore, the device includes an I/O buffer logic control which provides control of the analog signals connected to the switch paths.
The MAX14979EETX+ is a special-purpose analog switch for applications in mobile and battery-operated applications where power consumption and space are a priority. It offers low on-resistance requirements with temperature variations and very low charge-injection characteristics. The on-resistance varies less with the supply voltage and temperature variations. It also features logic-level control that allows the user to control the switch-resistor operation and digital control for the analog signals connected to the conductive paths.
