Maxim Integrated’s MAX15041EVKIT evaluation board is a DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply). SMPS are a form of regulated switching power supply that provides a consistent and reliable output supply from an input supply with varying input voltage levels.The MAX15041EVKIT features the MAX15041ETP+ and MAX15041ETP+T high-efficiency synchronous step-down controllers. These devices can operate as either DC/DC converters or AC/DC (flyback) converters, allowing for operation of a wide variety of power supply configurations. The MAX15041ETP+ family is a 2-phase, constant-frequency synchronous step-down controller that provides high-efficiency power conversion, low cost of design, and low system cost.The board also features two power inductors, two high-performance MOSFETs, capacitors, and resistors. It is also capable of handling power circuits up to 20V and 1A with no additional external components. The board is also designed to minimize ripple in the output signal and provide a low-noise, efficient power supply solution. The MAX15041EVKIT works by using two switching power stages – one for the DC/DC stage and one for the AC/DC (Flyback) stage. The DC/DC stage is used to convert the input DC voltage to the desired output voltage, while the AC/DC stage is used to provide input current to the power inductors. During the DC/DC stage, two MOSFETs are switched on and off at a constant frequency, allowing the input current to charge or discharge the inductors accordingly.During the AC/DC stage, the MOSFETs are also switched at a constant frequency. However, the duty cycle for the two MOSFETs in the AC/DC stage varies depending on the input voltage level. This allows for efficient power conversion when operating at varying input voltage levels.The MAX15041EVKIT can be used in a variety of different applications that require a reliable and efficient power supply solution.
